Container throughput rises in Peru

In 2024, Peru’s container ports handled 3.5 million TEUs, marking an 11% year-over-year growth.
The Port of Callao, the country’s largest port, saw an 11% rise in container volumes, surpassing 3 million TEUs and accounting for 88% of Peru’s total container traffic. Meanwhile, Paita, the second-busiest port, processed approximately 310,000 TEUs but experienced a 4% decline.
The most significant growth was recorded at the Port of Pisco, which handled 77,500 TEUs—an impressive 175% increase. Additionally, Salaverry emerged as a new container hub, moving 10,400 TEUs.
