According to Thecla Bodewes Shipyards’ social media update, the keel laying ceremony for the 5,600 dwt vessel was held on February 27, 2025.

The ship with a diesel-electric propulsion is part of a four-unit Gadus series being built at the Dutch shipyard under the contract revealed in November 2024.

In addition to being designed to optimize fuel consumption and reduce emissions, the Gadus series will feature automation and control systems that optimize performance throughout the voyage. These systems continuously monitor and adjust operations to enhance overall efficiency and minimize fuel use.

The ships will feature capability to be retrofitted with wind-assisted ship propulsion (WASP) systems and battery banks. Space is also reserved for conversion to alternative fuels such as methanol and hydrogen.

The first two Gadus vessels for Navigare Shipping are scheduled for delivery in 2026.
