Indian Navy takes delivery of new multi-purpose vessel

"Samarthak is not limited to one specific task but is engineered to support a wide spectrum of activities, thereby embodying the concept of a multi-purpose vessel," the Indian Ministry of Defence said.

The MPV has a length of 107 metres, a beam of 18.6 metres, a displacement of 3,750 tonnes, and a top speed of 15 knots.

The vessel's armament includes a Leonardo/OTO Melara 76mm naval gun, two CRN-91 30mm autocannon, two 12.7mm machine guns, torpedoes, and unguided anti-submarine rockets.

Aviation facilities are available for an HAL Dhruv or similar utility helicopter.
