Andros, the northernmost island of the Cyclades, has been highlighted as a premier island hiking destination in the latest Conde Nast Traveler list of the best Greek islands for 2025.
According to the lifestyle travel magazine, Andros offers a diverse landscape that feels like multiple islands in one. “Lush valleys, rugged terrain, rushing streams, charming villages, and unspoiled beaches are all connected by an organized network of walking trails, making it an excellent destination even outside peak season,” the magazine notes.
The island’s capital, Chora, is described as a place full of unexpected treasures, with its marble streets leading to historic monasteries, scenic waterfalls, and inviting tavernas.
Meanwhile, Andros’ beaches are a major highlight, ranging from dramatic sandy coves to serene beach bars and seafood restaurants overlooking breathtaking sunsets. With such variety, the island caters to every type of traveler, and visitors can easily fill several weeks with unique experiences.
Nikos Moustakas, the Municipal Tourism Advisor for Andros, welcomed the recognition, stating, “Leading international media are acknowledging the island’s unique and authentic appeal. The growing trend of travelers seeking distinctive destinations continues to gain momentum, and we are committed to promoting Andros abroad.”
