The MEA highlighted an increase in maritime threats, as 4 vessels were attacked in 48 hours, and called for an immediate end to the attacks.

On Wednesday, India’s Ministry of External Affairs condemned the series of attacks on commercial vessels in the Black Sea, saying the incidents targeting merchant shipping were deeply concerning.

At a press briefing, the MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said four vessels had been hit within 48 hours. The 3 Indians aboard the MV Royad Mammadov when it was attacked were rescued, and one injured person received treatment.

The Palau-flagged MV Able was struck by a drone. Among the 18 crew members aboard the ship, 7 were Indian. The Bulgarian authorities helped with the crew’s evacuation, and they were in Varna, Bulgaria, where the injured received treatment.
