Port of Antwerp-Bruges strengthens ties with India

From 3 to 7 March, the Port of Antwerp-Bruges took part in the Belgian economic mission to India, reinforcing its strategic collaboration with the country.
With a rapidly growing economy, robust industrial capacity, and a strong commitment to renewable energy, India is an increasingly vital partner for the port and European industry.
Zeebrugge, the world’s largest car port, is becoming a key logistics hub for Indian automotive companies. India also excels in IT and innovation, aligning with the Belgian port’s investment in energy transition.
During the mission, Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT), Green H2 India, and the Belgian Hydrogen Council signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance global renewable hydrogen production and alternative energy solutions.
The port of Antwerp-Bruges maintains strong trade relations with India, fostering knowledge exchange through training programs. The JNPA-Antwerp Port Training and Consultancy Foundation and the Antwerp/Flanders Port Training Centre (APEC) offer logistics and port management training for Indian port workers.
Additionally, Port of Antwerp-Bruges International collaborates with institutions like the Indian Institute of Technology Madras and the Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port in Kolkata to support port development projects.
To further strengthen cooperation, FIT and the Port of Antwerp-Bruges hosted events such as the ‘Excellence Through Sangam’ gala, underscoring the deepening ties between Belgium and India.
