As disclosed, the call, issued on January 15, 2025, addresses key priorities identified by the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) within different areas of research and innovation.

A budget of €184.5 million includes a part of the RePowerEU program as follows: €40 million for renewable hydrogen production, €16 million for hydrogen storage and distribution, €17 million for transport, €5 million for heat and power, €6.5 million for cross-cutting and €80 million for hydrogen valleys.

An additional €20 million comes from United Kingdom (UK) appropriations which are available to support projects in the reserve lists and will be allocated according to the Governing Board strategic priorities.

As mentioned, the budget for this call includes €80 million from the RePowerEU Plan to support hydrogen valleys exclusively. The Clean Hydrogen Partnership revealed that at least one large-scale and one small-scale hydrogen valley from the Call 2025 ranking list will be selected for funding provided they meet the required thresholds. Additional hydrogen valley proposals from the ranking list will be further selected for funding in order to optimize the use of the available budget.

The submission system for this call will be open from January 30, 2025, and the deadline for receipt of proposals is set for April 23, 2025, at 17:00 (CEST).

To remind, in 2024, the Clean Hydrogen Partnership launched a call for tender to set up and run a Hydrogen Valleys Facility as well as a hydrogen research call for proposals for projects to cover R&I activities across the whole hydrogen value chain.
