Greek DryDel Shipping is moving into the capesize sector through a newbuilding deal with shipyard in Japan. DryDel Shipping, led by Costas Delaportas, shared a photo in the social media of the signing of the order of two 182,000-dwt sister vessels from Namura Shipbuilding in Japan.
The Athens-based company revealed in a LinkedIn post on Monday that it has expanded its orderbook with a pair of ships scheduled for delivery within 2028.
The Greek shipowner didn’t disclose any financial details about the order, but it said that the new project is a joint venture with its “trusted Japanese partners”.

The two scrubber-fitted capes will be fully managed both commercially and technically by DryDel.
The company said that with this expansion it takes advantage of a historically low cape orderbook, and also diversification with larger-size vessels.
