HD Hyundai Heavy Industries wins $2.55bn order for 12 LNG boxships

Ulsan-based shipbuilder HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) secured an order for 12 large container ships worth approximately 3.716 trillion-won ($2.55bln) on January 22.

The company said in a regulatory filing that the vessels were ordered by an unnamed European shipping company.

The ships will be equipped with eco-friendly features, including an LNG dual-fuel propulsion engine.

South Korea’s HHI plans to deliver the vessels sequentially by December 2028. The company secured the order on January 22, 2025, with delivery expected on December 29, 2028.

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries didn’t provide any details about the shipowner identity who placed the order.
