International passenger traffic at Athens International Airport, continues to soar at the start of 2025, showing strong growth. In January, the airport reported an 18.7% increase in international passenger traffic, reaching 1.32 million passengers, up from 1.12 million during the same month in 2024.
Domestic passenger traffic also rose by 5.1% this January, totaling 510,753 passengers compared to 486,187 in January last year, despite a slight decrease in the number of flights.
Overall passenger traffic at the airport amounted to 1.83 million, reflecting a 14.5% increase from 1.6 million in January 2024.
The total number of flights at Athens International Airport reached 16,546 in January, marking a 10.1% increase from the 15,031 flights of the same month in 2024.
Domestic flights saw a slight decline of 2.5%, totaling 6,107 flights compared to 6,263 last year, while international flights surged by 19.1%, reaching 10,439 flights, up from 8,768 in January 2024.
In 2024, the airport handled a total of 31.85 million passengers, a 13.1% increase from the previous year. Both domestic and international traffic saw increases, with domestic traffic up by 7.3% and international traffic rising by 15.7% compared to 2023.
