Travel revenues in Greece were up by 5.4% in December 2024

Travel revenues in Greece were up by 5.4% in December 2024 compared to the same month last year, as Greece remains a popular destination for foreign travelers, according to the Bank of Greece (BoG).

Visitors from Germany, Italy and the U.S. made up the bulk of visitors to Greece, while tourists from the EU27 members accounted for 54.6% of the aggregate receipts in December 2024.

According to data from the Bank of Greece, the travel balance for December 2024 recorded a surplus of €149.9 million, while for the entire year, it stood at €18.918 billion. Travel revenues saw a significant increase of 33.3% in December 2024 and a more moderate rise of 5.4% over the year. Incoming travel traffic also grew by 15.3% in December and 9.8% throughout 2024.

Preliminary data indicates that the travel balance in December 2024 showed a surplus of €149.9 million, compared to €97.7 million in the same month of 2023.

Travel revenues in Greece reached €435.1 million in December, marking a 33.3% increase from €326.4 million in December 2023. At the same time, travel payments rose by 24.7%, reaching €285.2 million compared to €228.7 million in the previous year.
